PPC Advertising Platforms: Paid Advertising Platforms Ranked and Compared
There are five PPC advertising platforms that matter to almost every US advertiser: Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn. Google Search carries the strongest buying intent and the highest prices, at roughly a $5 median US cost per click in 2026. Microsoft Ads runs the same search model for about 20 to 35 percent less on comparable queries. Meta and TikTok sell attention rather than intent, at roughly $1.72 and $0.62 per click. LinkedIn is the most expensive of the five and the only one that targets by job title at scale.
The choice is not really a ranking. It is a question about where your buyer already is when they decide, and about how much conversion volume you can generate per month, because every one of these auctions needs data before it optimizes well. A $2,000 monthly budget spread across four platforms usually performs worse than the same $2,000 concentrated in one.
This page compares the platforms on the numbers that decide the choice, then covers the part most comparisons skip: who runs them once you have picked. AdBot is an AI media buyer that builds and runs campaigns daily on Google Search, Shopping and Performance Max, plus Meta and TikTok, for one flat monthly fee. It does not run Microsoft Ads, LinkedIn, Amazon or YouTube video campaigns, and that limit is stated in the table below rather than buried.
AdBot is not open for purchase yet. The prices quoted here are the flat rates we plan to launch with, and every button on this site joins the waitlist rather than taking payment.

Intent platforms and attention platforms are priced differently for a reason
Search platforms charge more because the click already told you what the person wants. Social platforms charge less because you are interrupting someone who was not looking. Neither is better. If your product solves a problem people name out loud, search is cheaper per sale even at five times the cost per click. If nobody knows to search for it, paid social is the only way to create the demand in the first place.
Concentration beats coverage under about $5,000 a month
Every one of these auctions learns from conversion volume. Split a small budget four ways and each platform sits below the threshold where its bidding models work, so all four underperform at once. Pick the single platform where your buyer decides, spend enough there to generate 30 or more conversions a month, and only then add the second channel.
Platform choice is cheap to reverse, account structure is not
Switching platforms costs you a few weeks of learning. Losing the ad account does not reverse at all. Whatever platform and whatever vendor you pick, insist campaigns are built inside ad accounts registered to your business, so the conversion history, audiences and structure remain yours if the relationship ends.
The running cost is usually larger than the platform difference
A US PPC agency charges $1,500 to $10,000 a month, often plus 10 to 20 percent of spend, to manage a single platform. On a $3,000 media budget that management layer can cost more than the ads. The gap between a $5 Google click and a $3.50 Microsoft click matters far less than what you pay someone to work the account each day.

Cost per click figures reflect published 2026 US benchmark data and vary enormously by industry. Legal, insurance and B2B software searches on Google routinely clear $30 a click while local services sit under $5. AdBot has not launched, so its pricing is planned launch pricing rather than billed rates.
Czym się zajmuje
Wszystkim, od researchu po codzienną optymalizację
Ty ustawiasz cel i budżet. AdBot robi robotę media buyera i raportuje zwykłym językiem.
- One flat monthly fee covering Google Search, Shopping, Performance Max, Meta and TikTok together, never a percentage of ad spend
- Cross-platform budget decisions made on one conversion picture instead of two vendor reports that disagree
- No minimum ad spend, so a single-platform pilot at $1,500 a month gets the same daily work as a large account
- Campaigns built inside ad accounts registered to your business, so conversion history and audiences stay yours

What are the PPC advertising platforms?
The PPC advertising platforms are the ad networks that charge you per click rather than per impression. The five that carry almost all US budget are Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn. Amazon Ads, Pinterest, Reddit and X hold meaningful niches. Everything else is either a reseller of this inventory or a demand-side platform that buys programmatic display on top of it.
They split cleanly into two groups. Paid search advertising platforms, meaning Google and Microsoft, show ads in response to a typed query, so the ad matches a stated need at the moment it exists. Paid social advertising platforms, meaning Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn, show ads based on who a person is and what they engage with, so demand has to be created by the creative rather than captured.
A third group gets grouped in and should not be. Programmatic and demand-side platforms such as The Trade Desk or DV360 buy display, connected TV and audio inventory across thousands of sites. They are bought on cost per thousand impressions rather than per click, they require far larger minimums, and they solve a different problem. If someone quotes you a 'PPC platform' that mostly runs banner display, you are being sold programmatic.
AdBot operates in the first two groups only, and not all of them. It builds and runs Google Ads campaigns, Meta ads on Facebook and Instagram and TikTok ads. It does not run Microsoft Ads, LinkedIn, Amazon or YouTube video.
Which PPC platform is best for small businesses?
For most US small businesses the answer is Google Search, because it is the only platform where someone actively looking for what you sell can find you the same hour. A plumber, a dentist, an accountant or a law firm gets a measurable phone call from a Google Search campaign at a budget where paid social is still gathering data. Local service businesses in particular should start there and nowhere else.
The exception is any business whose product is bought on impulse or on how it looks. A boutique ecommerce brand, a restaurant, a gym or a med spa can beat Google on Meta and TikTok, because nobody searches for a product they have not seen yet. If your best sales channel today is Instagram, paid social is not a second phase, it is the right first platform.
Microsoft Ads deserves more consideration than small businesses give it. The audience skews older, higher income and heavily desktop and workplace, and clicks cost roughly 20 to 35 percent less than Google for comparable queries. For B2B services, financial products and anything sold to buyers over 45, a $750 monthly Microsoft budget often outperforms the same money added to an existing Google account. AdBot does not run Microsoft Ads, so that one belongs in your own hands or with an agency that does.
Whichever you choose, work the budget backwards rather than forwards. Our advertising budget calculator turns a revenue target and close rate into the monthly spend it actually requires, which is a faster way to find out whether a platform is realistic for you than testing it for three months.
How much do PPC advertising platforms cost?
Nothing to open, and then whatever the auction charges. All five major platforms are free to create an account on and bill only for delivered clicks or impressions. The real cost has three layers: the media itself, the platform minimums, and the management fee for whoever runs the account.
Media cost in 2026 US benchmarks runs roughly $4.66 to $5.26 median per click on Google Search, $1.50 to $3.50 on Microsoft Ads, about $1.72 on Meta, about $0.62 on TikTok and commonly $6 to $12 on LinkedIn. Industry swings dwarf platform differences. Legal, insurance and enterprise software keywords on Google clear $30 a click routinely, while a local home service business may pay $4. Auction prices across the major platforms have been inflating around 10 percent a year.
Platform minimums are modest. Google and Microsoft have none. Meta needs roughly a dollar a day per ad set. TikTok asks about $50 a day at campaign level. LinkedIn asks about $10 a day per campaign. The practical floor is higher than the technical floor, because every platform needs conversion volume before its bidding works, which in most categories means $1,500 a month or more per platform.
The management layer is where the money usually goes. A US PPC agency charges $1,500 to $10,000 a month or 10 to 20 percent of spend, a freelancer $1,000 to $4,000, and an in-house paid media hire $6,500 to $10,000 a month in salary. Software sits far below all three: our comparison of AI ad tools and the wider PPC management software roundup put most platforms between $29 and $500 a month. AdBot plans to launch at a flat $297, $697 or $1,497 a month, never a percentage of spend.
Which PPC platform has the lowest cost per click?
TikTok, at a median of about $0.62 per click in 2026, with an interquartile range of roughly $0.38 to $1.04. Meta follows at about $1.72 in the US, then Microsoft Ads at $1.50 to $3.50, then Google Search at $4.66 to $5.26 median, then LinkedIn at $6 to $12. The order has been stable for several years.
The cheapest click is rarely the cheapest customer, which is why this ranking should not drive the decision. A $0.62 TikTok click from someone scrolling at midnight and a $5 Google click from someone typing 'emergency plumber near me' are not the same event. Divide by conversion rate before comparing anything: cost per acquisition is the number that pays your bills, and on considered purchases the expensive intent platform usually wins it.
Where the low cost per click genuinely matters is in the top of a funnel you intend to retarget. Buying cheap reach on TikTok or Meta, then capturing the resulting branded searches on Google, is a legitimate structure and a common one. It only works if you are measuring across both platforms rather than judging each on its own report.
What is the best pay per click advertising platform for B2B?
Non-brand Google Search first, LinkedIn second, and the split depends almost entirely on your average contract value. Google reaches the buyer at the moment they go looking for a solution, which for most B2B categories is the cheapest qualified pipeline available. LinkedIn reaches the right job title before they are looking, which is worth its $6 to $12 clicks only when a closed deal is worth tens of thousands of dollars.
Below roughly $10,000 in annual contract value, LinkedIn rarely clears its own cost. Above roughly $50,000, account-based LinkedIn programs are often the only way to reach a buying committee that never types a query. Between the two, most B2B advertisers get further by spending the LinkedIn money on tighter Google Search coverage and better conversion tracking.
B2B search has one failure mode that outweighs platform choice: leads that look like leads and are not. Students, competitors and job seekers fill B2B forms constantly, and the fix is unglamorous daily work on negative keywords and match types rather than a different platform. The B2B advertising agency page covers how that work is normally priced, and what an agency does that software does not.
Can you run PPC campaigns on multiple platforms at once?
Yes, and above about $5,000 a month in media you generally should, because a single platform eventually saturates its addressable audience and each additional dollar buys a worse click. Below that number, running two platforms usually means running both of them badly.
The operational problem is that each platform has its own bidding model, creative specs, conversion window and reporting definition, so the same sale gets claimed twice and budget decisions get made on numbers that do not reconcile. Multi-platform advertising is mostly a measurement discipline rather than a media one.
Three structures work in practice. Run one platform properly and add the second only when the first stops scaling profitably. Run search and social together against one blended cost per acquisition target, judged on a single conversion source. Or hand both to one system that already sees them together, which is what AdBot does across Google, Meta and TikTok on a single conversion picture.
Do you need a separate agency or tool for each ad platform?
No, and paying per platform is the most common way small advertisers overspend on management. Agencies frequently quote Google and Meta as separate retainers, which turns a $3,000 media budget into $5,000 of monthly cost before a single click is bought. Ask any vendor whether the fee covers all channels or one, in writing, before signing.
The tool market splits the same way and it is worth knowing which side a product sits on. Meta-first optimizers such as Madgicx, creative generators such as AdCreative.ai, and Google-only bid managers such as Optmyzr each cover one slice well. Cross-platform coverage almost always means either a much higher price tier or an agency wrapper. Our Madgicx alternative and AdCreative.ai alternative comparisons set out exactly which platforms each one touches.
AdBot covers Google, Meta and TikTok under one flat fee, and does not cover Microsoft Ads or LinkedIn at all. If your plan needs those two, budget for a second vendor or your own time, and read the PPC agency comparison before assuming an agency retainer is the only option. If you are an agency yourself, white label PPC covers running this under your own brand.
How do you choose a PPC platform for a new campaign?
Five questions settle it faster than any comparison table, including this one:
- Does anyone search for what you sell? If yes, start on Google Search. If nobody knows the category exists, start on Meta or TikTok.
- What is a customer worth to you? Under $500 in lifetime value, cheap clicks matter and paid social usually wins. Over $5,000, intent matters far more than click price.
- How much can you spend for three months without flinching? Under $1,500 a month, run exactly one platform. Over $5,000, a second channel becomes worth the added complexity.
- Can you produce new creative every two weeks? If not, avoid TikTok and treat Meta cautiously. Search platforms run on text and tolerate a slower creative cadence.
- Who is going to work the account daily? A platform nobody touches for three weeks loses money faster than the wrong platform managed well.
Who runs the platform once you have picked one?
Every platform in this comparison is self-serve, so the honest answer is that you can run it yourself. Most advertisers who try discover the same thing: the build is a weekend, and the daily maintenance is the job. Search terms need mining, negatives need adding, budgets need moving between what is working and what is not, and creative needs replacing before it fatigues.
Four options exist and each has a real trade-off. An agency brings strategy and a named human, at $1,500 to $10,000 a month plus a common 10 to 20 percent of spend. A freelancer costs less and carries key-person risk. An in-house hire costs $6,500 to $10,000 a month in salary and only makes sense above serious spend. Software costs the least and does not think about your positioning for you.
AdBot is the software option built for the case where the offer is already settled and what you need is the daily execution. Give it your URL and a budget, and it researches the market, writes the ads, builds the campaigns, launches them inside ad accounts you own, and works Google, Meta and TikTok every day for one flat monthly fee. If you would rather compare it against agency models generally, the AI marketing agency comparison and the media buying agency page both cover that ground.
