AI ads for Shopify stores, on autopilot
You built the store, the products are ready, and now it all hinges on traffic that actually converts. But Shopify does not run your ads, and hiring an agency to do it eats the margin before you have proven the funnel.
AdBot is an AI media buyer for Shopify. It connects to your store and product catalog, builds Performance Max and Advantage+ Shopping campaigns, writes the creative, launches across Google and Meta, and optimizes every day toward profitable sales.

What it handles
Everything, from research to daily optimization
You set the goal and the budget. AdBot does the work a media buyer would, and reports back in plain language.
- Shopify catalog and pixel integration
- Google Shopping and Performance Max
- Meta Advantage+ Shopping campaigns
- Daily, product-level optimization
A day of optimization
Every 24h- 1 Reads yesterday's spend, clicks, conversions and cost per result from both platforms.
- 2 Adds the search terms and placements that spent without converting to your exclusions.
- 3 Shifts budget, within your cap, toward the ad groups hitting your target cost.
- 4 Rotates in the next creative variant where an ad has fatigued.
- 5 Logs every change so you can read it and reverse it.
AdBot never spends past the daily cap you set.
How much should a Shopify store spend on ads?
Most Shopify stores should start somewhere between $1,000 and $3,000 a month in ad spend, which is enough for the platforms to gather conversion data without spreading a small budget so thin that nothing gets a fair test. Below roughly $30 a day per campaign, Google and Meta struggle to exit the learning phase, and you end up paying for data you never collect enough of to use.
The number that matters more than the budget is your break-even ROAS, which is one divided by your gross margin. A store at a 40 percent margin needs 2.5x just to cover product and ad cost. Work out your target on our ROAS calculator before you set a budget, because the right spend is whatever amount stays profitable at that ratio.
Are Shopify ad apps enough on their own?
Usually not. Most Shopify advertising apps solve feed management: they sync your catalog to Google Merchant Center or Meta so your products are eligible to show. That is a real job and worth doing, but it is plumbing, not media buying. The app does not decide your campaign structure, write your ad copy, set your bidding strategy, or move budget toward the products that are actually returning.
The gap shows up a few weeks in, when the feed is healthy and the results are still mediocre. Someone has to read the search terms, cut the products losing money, refresh the creative before it fatigues, and rebalance between Shopping, Performance Max, and Meta. AdBot does that work daily instead of leaving it in a dashboard for you.
Performance Max or Meta Advantage+ for a Shopify store?
Run both, but not with the same money or the same expectations. Google Performance Max tends to capture people already searching for something like your product, so it usually posts the higher ROAS and is the safer place to start for a store with existing demand. Meta Advantage+ Shopping is better at creating demand for visual, impulse, and discovery-led products, and it depends far more heavily on fresh creative.
The mistake is treating them as competitors and picking one. In practice they feed each other: Meta builds the audience and the brand searches, Google harvests the intent that results. What matters is that budget can move between them weekly based on which is actually returning, which is exactly what daily Google Ads automation and Meta ads automation are for.
When a Shopify store should hire an agency instead
Hire an ecommerce agency when your spend is high enough that a percentage point of improvement outweighs a $3,000 retainer, and when you need more than media buying: brand strategy, a creative studio producing original video, marketplace expansion, or retention and email work. Above roughly $50,000 a month in spend, a good specialist agency usually earns its fee, and the strategic input is real.
Below that, the math gets hard to justify. A $2,000 retainer on $5,000 of ad spend means 40 percent of your marketing budget is going to management before a single customer arrives, and small accounts are typically handed to the most junior person on the team. That is the range where a flat-fee automated buyer makes more sense, and our AI ads for ecommerce page covers the wider comparison.
